Referee Assistant--Professional Edition is now available for purchase! Referee Assistant--Professional Edition was created with many of the concepts behind Referee Assistant--Standard Edition. The Professional Edition was created to be flexible, useful, and compatible across a wide variety of sports and assigning schemes.

Assigning

Referee Assistant has numerous enhancements related to assigning officials. These new features include:

  • Back-to-back assigning of referees on the same field and date
  • Geographic zone assigning, which allows assignors to specify which geographic zones a referee is allowed to officiate in.
  • Ability to define a maximum number of games per day for each referee
  • Auto-assign undo: Allows assignors to run the auto-assign process, view the results, then revert the assignments back to their original state prior to the auto-assign process.

E-mail and Web support

Referee Assistant--Professional Edition now features the two most requested features, E-mail and Web support. Referee Assistant now allows the assignor to send individual e-mails from within the program to an individual referee or a group of referees assigned to a game. A complete assignments list can also be e-mailed to each referee.

Referee Assistant also supports a new web-based service, called Referee Assistant Web Services. Web Services serves as a public front-end for your desktop database, where you can post games, assignments, and messages for referees to view. Referees log in securely with a user name and password, and can update their e-mail address, day/time availability, and accept/decline their assignments from the web. Address changes, referee availability, and game accept/decline data submitted from the web can be imported into Referee Assistant with the click of a button.

Web Services is a yearly subscription-based service, hosted on the referee-assistant.com website, and is sold separately from the desktop database application.

Systems of Control

A system of control defines the number(s) and type(s) of officials needed for each game. Referee Assistant now supports user-defined systems of control, and can support any kind of officiating system or sport.

Reporting

Referee Assistant supports an enhanced reporting struture, with the ability to create custom reports and queries in a separate reporting module. This allows an assignor to upgrade the Referee Assistant application and retain any custom queries or reports.

Enhanced screens

Referee Assistant features single-click "choose a date" calendar buttons on every date field in the database. All screens were improved for consistency and useability. In addition, the Add/Edit Referees and Add/Edit Games screen have been completely redesigned to give you the information you need at your fingertips.

Referee Ability Levels

For each referee position, a referee is now rated with a Low and High value. If assigning by referee ability levels is used, referees are assigned to games with a difficulty rating between his/her Low ability and High ability level.

Billing/Payroll

Billing and payroll now supports referee expenses, which can be used for reimbursement of travel and mileage, one-time fees for referee associations, no show/late fines, or any other purpose that the assignor needs.

Import/Export

Referee Assistant now features a more reliable and flexible import feature, which also allows for importing games and referees from sources other than Excel.

Internationalization

Referee Assistant now supports non-US formats for addresses/postal codes, dates, telephone numbers, and currency.

Database Structure

Referee Assistant leverages the power of Microsoft Access to help prevent assigning and scheduling mistakes. Utilizing the rules of "database integrity", Referee Assistant prevents referees from being double-scheduled and prevents games with the same date/time/field combination from entering the database. Referee Assistant is expandable, upgradeable, and able to meet the changing needs of every sports referee assignor.
